About me
Hi, my name is Mauro - you might have guessed from the website's URL. 😆 I was born in Sardinia 🇮🇹 and now live in Berlin 🇩🇪 with my girlfriend Federica. From here I work remotely as a freelancer and organize events with the AWS User Group Berlin.
My professional philosophy focuses on delivering tangible results through a focused and realistic approach. I prioritize understanding the core goals and challenges of a project. This ensures that every effort is directed towards building what truly matters, avoiding unnecessary detours. I believe that careful, well-chosen investments of time and resources yield the most impactful and lasting outcomes.
Collaboration and open communication are central to my work. I foster an environment where every perspective is valued and actively discussed, regardless of expertise or role. I operate with transparency and directness, believing that clear and sincere communication is key to preventing and resolving any disagreements or misunderstandings. This collaborative spirit ensures that all stakeholders are aligned, leading to shared ownership and a collective drive towards project success.
I am driven by curiosity and a passion for solving complex problems, always striving to deliver not just functional solutions, but those that are robust and well-crafted. I thrive in environments built on clear goals, mutual trust, and freedom to experiment. This dedication means I am constantly seeking to refine processes and outcomes, ensuring that my clients receive the best possible service and a product that stands the test of time.
I have a computer engineering degree, but throughout my career I've always been eager to learn and gain experience in all aspects of software development.
I love coding, but I'm also passionate about Agile, Platforms, CI/CD, and everything that makes software development productive and fun!
Web & Atlassian Developer
Began by building robust Java web applications and RESTful services. Also became an Atlassian expert, developing tools for improved team collaboration and efficiency.
Agile Consultant & Dev
Transitioned to consulting, guiding companies in adopting Atlassian tools and Agile methodologies, while ideating and managing the development of custom extensions.
Cloud Back-end Engineer
Specialized in cloud-native backend development with AWS and Spring Boot at FRIDAY. Contributed to critical services, infrastructure, and event driven architectures.
Freelance Software Engineer
Launched my own company, I offer services like Atlassian Forge Apps, Chrome extensions, and Full-stack Web Apps development to international clients such as Amastar, Bigbrain, and Würth Phoenix.
In addition to my professional experience, during the years I continued challenging myself and I have pursued and obtained a set of certifications that span from cloud technologies to Agile and tools.
I see AI first and foremost as a tool, not magic, not a replacement for professionals, and not what marketing hype often promises. Still, it’s a powerful and genuinely useful tool. I believe every serious professional should learn how to add it to their toolbox and use it in ways that make sense for their work.
In my daily work as a developer, I use AI mainly for code completion, debugging simple issues, and brainstorming tools, frameworks, or architectural approaches. It helps me move faster, explore alternatives, and gain knowledge more quickly. I never delegate design or critical decisions to AI, though, I treat it more like a brainstorming partner that can suggest ideas, while I remain responsible for putting everything together in a way that aligns with the project vision.
Because AI evolves so quickly, staying up to date is essential. I experiment with new tools and techniques as they appear, but always with the mindset that judgment and responsibility remain mine. AI can accelerate work, spark ideas, and save time, but in the end it’s up to us to decide how to use it wisely.
When I'm not at the computer I love spending time with my girlfriend and with my friends.
I also have a few hobbies, like dancing Swing and Blues. Something nobody would have expected from me. That’s because I used to play in a metal band and listened only to metal music. 🤣
While stuck at home for long periods (you know why), I learned how to bake bread, pizza, and the ultimate challenge: the Italian "Panettone". Since all these carbs need to be burned off, I also practice Thai boxing. 😄
I hope you’ll find something useful here, and if you want to collaborate with me or simply have a chat feel free to contact me!
